GoE at European Society of Human Genetics 2026 conference in Gothenburg

Get2Gether session

At ESHG – European Society of Human Genetics 2026 in Gothenburg, the Genome of Europe community came together for a special Get2gether session, bringing together researchers, clinicians, project partners and genomics experts from across Europe. We are especially grateful to the European Society of Human Genetics and the ESHG 2026 Organising Committee for dedicating a Get2gether session to Genome of Europe and creating a space for our community to connect, exchange ideas and discuss the future of genomic research and healthcare in Europe.

The goal of the session was to give an overview of the progress made after one year into the Genome of Europe project. The session was aimed at both the general public and experts in the field, and presented the results of some of the ongoing GoE activities, including T2T pangenomes, pharmacogenomics usecase, and public outreach. The session featured contributions from André G. Uitterlinden, Andres Metspalu, Merit Kreitsberg, Stephan Ossowski and Anthony Herzig, who shared perspectives on the progress of Genome of Europe, the challenges ahead, and the opportunities that a pan-European genomic reference resource can create for research, healthcare and prevention.

Beyond the presentations, the session sparked a lively panel discussion among participants, highlighting the importance of collaboration, knowledge exchange, tailored communications and shared ambition across countries and institutions.

GoE consortium at ESHG

The Genome of Europe consortium was well represented throughout the meeting not only as participants, but as presenters. In addition to the Get2Gether session, GoE members delivered 2 talks within corporate sessions and presented a total of 11 poster presentations during the 3 days in Gothenburg. We thank all of our community members for their hard work and congratulate on all their achievements.
